THE USE OF NEW DATA ACQUISITION PLATFORMS IN MAY 2019 As noted previously, the ABS is undertaking a major transformation, supported by a $257 million investment by the Australian Government, to modernise its key statistical infrastructure. As part of this transformation, the ABS is progressively adopting new data acquisition platforms to collect information from businesses and households in Australia. The Job Vacancies Survey was one of the earlier surveys to use this new infrastructure, in May 2019. This change was carefully planned, tested and managed. To enable the ABS to undertake additional quality assurance for the initial collections that are using the new infrastructure, some release dates will be changed. The release dates for Job Vacancies (cat. no. 6354.0) were moved back by a week for both the May 2019 and August 2019 releases. The additional quality assurance that was undertaken for May 2019 Job Vacancies estimates did not detect any discernible statistical impact from the use of new data acquisition platforms. The ABS will therefore be changing the release date for the August 2019 release back to its original scheduled timing of 26 September 2019. ROUNDING Estimates of percentage change shown in this release have been calculated using unrounded estimates, and may be different from, but are more accurate than, movements obtained from calculating percentage change using the rounded estimates presented in the Tables and the datacubes on the Downloads tab.
